Smoking Jacket.

One of my all time favorite board games as a kid was "Clue." I have always loved a good mystery, which explains my complete Nancy Drew Collection from my pre-teens and my now obsession with the show Dexter.

This jacket reminds me of a cross between Mrs. Peacock and Professor Plum. Both stylish, in my opinion. Although part of me wishes I looked a bit more like Miss Scarlet, the sexy one. That's where the leopard kitten heels come into play I suppose.

This velvet blazer is timeless. I can wear it now in my 20's and, well, for the rest of my life. The color is a bit unexpected and that's what I like about it.

Velvet Blazer: Talbot's clearance (only $25!). Lace Tee: Talbot's clearance ($10). Skinnies: AE. Kitten Heels: Target.
Professor Plum would definitely rock a blazer jacket. While smoking a cigar. In the Library.

Mrs. Peacock probably wouldn't wear a jacket this bold, but she would wear a lace blouse, only probably not in the form of a tee shirt. Think Victorian: high collar and long sleeves.

Keeping up.

Hey friends! Just a quick little Sunday note to let you know that LIFE TOLD BY LESLIE IS NOW ON FACEBOOK!!!!!!

Yes, it took me awhile to create a separate FB page for the blog from my personal one. I want my personal FB page to be for me, and the new LTBL FB page to be for you! No mass messages, no blowing up your news feed with useless crap.

The plan is to post one of the daily photo's and a bit of the dialogue from daily blog posts to the Facebook page. That way it will make it easier for us to chat back in forth, discuss ideas, share photos etc.

The reason I finally decided to do this is because I find that most of my friends comment on my posts through Facebook. So through the new LTBL FB page, you won't necessarily have to even come here to the blog if you didn't want to. While I'll be posting more photos on the blog, you'll get the bulk of the info and one photo on the FB page. Does this all make sense?

I hope we'll begin to get to know each other a little better. Feel free to share outfit photos, sales and coupons for retailers, or ask me questions! So what are you waiting for? Head over and "Like" Life Told By Leslie on Facebook and let the fun begin!

Meet: The Bike.

I'm SO incredibly pumped to introduce everyone to......drumroll please......my new road bike!!

Green Reflective Shirt: Patagonia, bought in New Zealand. Black Spandex Pants: Target. Pink Reebox: Macy's.
Please ignore my little man's messy bookshelf :)

After around six months of deliberation and research I brought home this baby plus tons of awesome hardcore biker chick accessories, such as spandex pants and helmets----ahhhh I'm so excited!!

Some of you may not know this but I used to be into running and have done a few half marathons. After my last race (April 2011) I seriously didn't want to ever run again. Why keep doing something I completely hate?

My goal for this bike and 2012 (a resolution, if you must call it that) is to take better care of myself, but in a fun way. That's why running is out for me and biking is in! I don't think I'll be participating in any races or anything like that, I just plan to ride for leisure and exercise. I've already met a few other "bikers" in Cape and hope to make a few friends and just have a great time staying in shape. Also, I freaking love spandex. Ha.

Do you have a roadbike? Please be my friend and go for rides with me :)

My weekend plans include lots of long bike rides and a double date Saturday night with my bro in law and his new bride. Have a great weekend everyone!

Timid

Nobody likes to be teased.

I live in a semi-small city. Even though it's a college town where you would think that people are "hip and cool," Cape Geezy, MO is a little behind when it comes to fashion. Mullet skirts, harem pants and fur vests are not welcome, let's just put it that way.

I have really blossomed the past year with my wardrobe (in my opinion, anyway!) and I love what I put on almost every morning. So for someone to say "is that what you're wearing?" or "do you really think that looks good?"----stings, just a bit. I go back to that fourth grade insecure feeling and want to hide behind my mom's legs.

This outfit raised some eyebrows the other day--but I loved it. The skirt is super comfortable, and I love sweater tights. Niiiice and cozy.

I guess the grey tights, leopard flats and brown tee threw people off. Or maybe the high waisted skirt?? I honestly can say I'm not sure why this outfit was questionable. Do you think I look like a crazy person? Maybe I'm in denial.

Tee: Gap, favorite fit. Mini Skirt: J. Crew super sale! Sweater tights: Target. Flats: Target.
If I've learned anything over the past year, it's that I can't keep contemplating if what I'm wearing looks "acceptable" or not. Everyone has differing tastes and preferences. I have to be ME and love ME. I hope you'll do the same. Wear what you love, what's comfy, what's honest.

Best. Day. Ever.

Yesterday was an awesome day. Work was productive, my sick little guy was feeling better, I did a little shopping Lance Armstrong style (more on that tomorrow!) and one of my dearest friends was in town for a visit. I woke up happy, I went to bed happy.

I needed yesterday.

I hope I don't sound like a brat by saying that things just went my way yesterday; but they did. Sometimes friends, I get a little sad about life-- I start asking those "Why" questions about finances and building houses and cooking dinners and just the every day shuffle of life. I start to wonder about God's plan for our family and our future.

Scarf: Handmade by me. Fur Vest: American Eagle. Striped Tee: Gap. Cords: Kohls. Boots: Macys.

I had a weird crazy dream last night (probably due to watching The Crazies right before bed, not a good idea folks!). I love hearing other people's dreams but I know some find it boring, so I'll cut to the chase. Basically I dreamed that I was alone. No house or husband or little man. I was alone in the woods, standing on a rock. In the dream I just had this sense that I was alone and going to be that way for a long time.

I woke up just being thankful that I'm surrounded by family and friends that love me. With Christ, I know that I'm never alone even if all of these people are gone. I am His, the Creator's child; first and foremost. I'm a wife and mother and daughter second and God honors my commitment to put Him first.

I was reminded that this life will pass away, and Christ will remain.

On good days (like yesterday!) and bad days, my Savior is there to tell me that I'm alright. And so are you, kid. Don't forget it.

Happy Wednesday!

Windstorm.

Tunic Sweater: Macys. Leggings: ??. Furry boots: Macys.

Since I had a day off yesterday, John and I spent the day with a little thrift shopping, a little sushi from Saffron, and a whole lot of play time. This outfit was perfect for errands and lounging with my favorite little man.

Also....holy windstorm yesterday. I know it's boring to talk about the weather, but geez o pete. New Years Eve it was 60 degrees out, two days later I feel like I'm in Antarctica. 2.5 seconds after I took these pics I threw my hair in a messy braid. Much more practical than having my hair down and flying all over the place.

Thanks for the police station matchbox car set Aunt Nancy! We spent the afternoon pretty much like this.

Now, back to the grind. Happy 2012 everyone!

Black Eyed Peas and Sleeeeeep.

Happy 2012! I hope everyone had a safe and fun night last night. I'm off work tomorrow and plan to do some shopping and have lunch with my Papaw, aka my grandfather. Can't wait to see him.

I wore this outfit Saturday, and I will probably wear it tomorrow on my day off...it's just that comfortable.

This is one of my sale items I picked up from J.Crew last week. 100% silk for only $25? I'll take it!

Let's talk bangs for a moment...how do you like em? It took about two weeks for me to get used to them...but now I loooove them. Part Uma Thurman, part 80's rocker chick. Yes.

I know everyone is talking about New Years Resolutions....but I don't really have any. I do have some big plans for 2012, but they're secret plans.....you'll have to wait and see!

Happy New Year!
